The IC-R3 full coverage is 495kHz to 2450MHz, and receives not only AM and FM/WFM but also TV (AM or FM). Amateur FM TV coverage is between 900 to 1300MHz and 2250 to 2450MHz. It uses a built-in 2in TFT colour LCD with a selection of multi colour background screens for operation status display, signal strength meter or a simple bandscope. The IC-R-3 has a lithium-ion battery (BP-206) as standard (charger optional extra) with an operating time more than 2 times that of any other type of battery' or via 3 x AA cells ( Ni-MH). It can also be powered from a 3.6 to 6.3V DC power source or via 12V DC via an optional cigarette lighter cable (CP-18). The BP-206 can be charged simultaneously when 5.5-6.3V DC (more than 1A) is supplied.
