- I purchased the SP-38 desk speaker for my Icom 9700 radio. This little speaker sounds great, with lots of base, but still sounding bright and crisp. The speaker is the same dimensions as the 7300 or 9700 so sits perfectly. I think the base comes from a base port running the length of the box, giving it the punch. If there is a compliant for the 7300-9700 your thinking of getting, don’t hesitate for one second, just get one, and put a smile on your face, when its sat next to your radio.
